A Cubist-inspired banner created by a student from Jerudong International School (JIS) yesterday was declared as the winner of the 2014 Azutech Schools Art Competition.
Winner Shakeel Fuad told the The Brunei Times that he decided to use Cubism in his banner creation, inspired by the art movement’s leaders as he was currently studying the movement, which involved analysing, breaking up and reassembling objects in an abstract form.
For his reward, Shakeel received the grand prize of a MS 109S Dell Handheld Projector and an OKI MC362dn Colour Multifunction LED Printer for his school.
Meanwhile, first runner up, Noor Basirah Hafiizah Mohd Hassan from Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School, who won herself a Dell 1135n Multifunction Laser Printer and an OKI C301dn A4 Colour LED Printer for her school, said the inspiration behind her creation titled Never judge a book by its cover was based on her life experiences.
All prizes were presented by Director of Azutech Sdn Bhd Hj Matussin Hj Ahmad.
A total of nine secondary schools participated in the competition, which was organised by the sole distributor for OKi printers, Azutech, and collaborated by the Department of Schools.
